The ART AND OLFACTION NEWCOMER AWARD

This award is designed to showcase excellence in perfumery by highlighting new brands, in both the independent and artisan space. 

A qualifying submission will be

• First released to the market between Jan. 1 - Dec. 31, 2024
• Released by a company that has not released a fine fragrance perfume to market before January 1, 2024. 
• The company producing the perfume is either privately-owned, or owned by another privately-owned company with no more than five fine fragrance holdings in its brand portfolio.
• We consider a fine fragrance an aromatic product in oil or alcohol that is designed for skin application with no other purpose than its smell. If you have a question about what constitutes a fine fragrance, please email us: hello@artandolfaction.com

All submitters to the Newcomer Award should be prepared to provide the information and names of their external collaborators, including the creative director responsible for the brief (for independent category perfumes), and the name of the submission's  perfumer (for both independent and artisan category perfumes). 

The winner of the Art and Olfaction Newcomer Award will be selected from the qualifying pool of artisan and independent submissions, and decided by a separate panel of judges. After going through Artisan or Independent category judging, the five top-scoring and qualifying perfumes in each category will be passed along to this panel, which will decide the winner at their own discretion. As with the artisan and independent categories, judging will be anonymous.

HOW TO SUBMIT

To submit for the Newcomer Award, submitters must submit their entry in the Artisan OR Independent categories. They must select the additional fee option that states "I wish to be considered for the Newcomer Award". This will qualify their submission for the Artisan or Independent category AND the Newcomer Award. 

After going through the judging process, the ten highest-scoring qualifying submissions will be sent along to a special jury for judging. Newcomer Award submissions are judged blindly, with only the statement of intent accompanying each perfume.

Note that to cover extra administration and judging, we required an extra fee to submit to the Newcomer Award, above and beyond the Artisan or Independent category fee.
