The 11th edition of the Art and Olfaction Awards will take place in late May, 2025 in Los Angeles. We're excited that you're choosing to participate in this global celebration of independent perfume. Whether you are a finalist or not, whether you win or not, you’re part of a movement that is impacting perfumery as a whole. For that, we salute you.
For this year's cycle of awards, we are accepting submissions for perfumes or experimental projects that were (or will be) released to the public between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
It is extremely important that you understand the rules of the awards, so you (and we) have a good experience. We're here for your questions.
The Independent category is open to brands that employed an external perfumer or fragrance house to initiate and create the formula for the submitted perfume, which was then released under the brand's name in 2024.
The artisan category is open to brands that are owned or co-owned (minimum 35% ownership) by the brand's primary perfumer, who initiated and created the submitted perfume's formula in-house and released it in 2024.
The experimental category is for creative or experimental practitioners who make use of scent in an unconventional or experimental manner that takes it out of the domain of traditional perfumery. Projects must have been first made public in 2024.
This award celebrates newcomers to the industry. Awarded to a perfume from a brand who launched their first fine fragrance product to market in 2024.
Given to an outstanding person who has made significant contributions to global public awareness and appreciation of practices with scent and perfumery.
This award is given on an annual basis to an outstanding person showing proof of exceptional vision with regards to how scent is used, developed, or imagined.
We're excited that you're choosing to participate in this global celebration of independent perfume. Whether you are a finalist or not, whether you win or not, you’re part of a movement that is impacting perfumery as a whole. For that, we salute you.
Please take a moment to read through this important information about submitting.

Submission fees are in USD, and cover our substantial administration costs, submission preparation costs, storage costs, transportation costs, and the production of the award event itself. We are a non-profit organization and we rely on these fees to run this mechanism.
While we try to keep our fees to their minimum possible cost, we understand that this may still present a substantial expense for some people. Please email us at hello[@]artandolfaction.com if you are experiencing financial hardship due to political instability or illness.

Artisan, Independent Categories: We require a minimum of 25ml of each perfume. This amount ensures that we will have sufficient quantity to decant and send to the judges, who are located around the world.
Newcomer Award: If you are submitting to the Newcomer Award, we require an additional 10ml of the submitted perfume, above and beyond the 25ml required for artisan and independent.
Experimental Category: We require a minimum of 25ml per scent submitted. However, we can make special dispensations when the scent component is not in perfume form, or where there was too small a quantity made. If the project contained multiple scent components, we accept up to four scent samples per project submitted. Email us (hello@artandolfaction.com) if this is the case, and we’ll find the right solution.
